Rotala Macrandra Red is a highly sought-after species that is characterized by its bold deep red to magenta hues. It makes for a beautiful background plant in medium to larger planted aquariums and as a mid to background choice. Quality lighting, CO2, and soft water are essential to promote growth. Beyond this, micronutrients are required if intense deep colors are desired. When provided with optimal conditions, this aquatic plant is an amazing addition to any planted tank. Individual stems should also be given sufficient space when planted as planting them too closely together will render the lower leaves void of light. Rotala Macrandra Red is very demanding and can be difficult to keep, but results are well worth the extra effort and rewarding if successful.
